It will be Espresso & Cigarette’s first title to be translated for English-language readers.

Written by ten Thai authors living across Europe, The Outsiders is not simply a book about life abroad.

It is about people trying to find their place in a new language, a new family, a new society—or even within their own lives. The characters live in different countries and have different experiences, but they all know what it feels like to be an “outsider.”

These are voices we want to bring to readers beyond the Thai language.

One line from the book stays with us:

“Looking back, I was like clay hardened inside a cup I had once believed was the whole world. When I stepped outside, the clay was beaten, pulled apart, scraped, and reshaped until I could no longer recognise what it had once been.”

You do not have to live abroad to understand what it feels like to be an outsider.

The English edition is coming in 2027.
