Espresso & Cigarette Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that our project to translate and publish A Boy with a Sixty-Year-Old Soul (花甲男孩) by Taiwanese author Fu-Min Yang (楊富閔) has been awarded NTD 170,000 under the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan’s 2026-1 Grant for the Publication of Taiwanese Works in Translation.

First published in 2010, this collection of nine short stories explores family, memory, aging, and the changing lives of people in rural southern Taiwan. The book was adapted into the acclaimed television series A Boy Named Flora A (花甲男孩轉大人) in 2017 and received a 15th-anniversary edition in 2025.

This will be Espresso & Cigarette’s first Taiwanese-to-Thai translation project.

As an independent publisher with a particular passion for short fiction, we are excited to introduce Fu-Min Yang’s work to Thai readers. Through this project, we hope to bring Taiwanese literature closer to Thai audiences and continue building meaningful connections across literary communities.

The Thai edition is planned for publication in 2027.
